The Tour

Eight chefs and five journalists from Dubai will pack three campers traveling from North to South Italy in search of very special ingredients and talented chefs.Born from an idea of Francesco Guarracino, Bice Mare’s Executive Chef, the tour is organised with the 7th Italian Cuisine World Summit 2015/ It is an ideal trip that will finish on October 27 2015, when the Summit will start in Dubai.

Road to Dubai – The Italian tasty way is the first tour of its kind. A group of chefs, journalists, food distributors and restaurant clients from Dubai, the metropolis of the United Arab Emirates, travels from North to South Italy, aboard of three state of the art campervans. Lead by Francesco Guarracino, executive chef of Bice Mare restaurant Dubai, the gourmand troop will stroll along an ideal route connecting Italy with Dubai, where between the 27th of October and the 6th of November the Italian Cuisine World Summit will take place.

The Summit, which is organized by the same team that manages the Road to Dubai tour, has as protagonist the best Italian restaurants of Dubai, which will host tens of Michelin starred chefs from all over Italy.

The Road to Dubaitour stops will provide the possibility to try the cuisine of some of the best chefs and restaurants of the contemporary italian cuisine, as Enrico Bartolini (Devero – Cavenago)**, Mauro Uliassi (Uliassi – Senigaglia)**, Heinz Beck (La Pergola Cavalieri Hilton – Roma)***, Alfonso ed Ernesto Iaccarino (Don Alfonso – Sant’Agata sui due Golfi)**, Rosanna Marziale (Le Colonne – Caserta)*, Angelo Sabatelli (Sabatelli – Monopoli)*, Antonella Ricci (Al Fornello Ceglie Messapica)*, Vincenzo Candiano (Locanda Don Serafino – Ragusa)** e Pino Cuttaia (La Madia – Licata)**. All of these chefs will be present at the Summit in Dubai.

A high quality pizza experience could not be miising from a tour like this, so the campers will visit Caiazzo to try the famous artisan pizza of Franco Pepe (Pepe in Grani).

Some of the stops of Road to Dubai will be dedicated to typical ingredients, as high quality olive oil, typical cheeses, traditional sweets, and wine also. At Punta Campanella close to Sorrento, for example, the gourmet travellers of the camper tour will participate in the fishing for the rare prawn of Crapolla, while in Castel di Sasso (CE), in La Campestre farm, they will discover the secrets of the Conciato, one of the most ancient types of Italian cheeses.

Between the wine stops there will be a tasting call at La Murola winery, Le Marche region, and visits to Peppe Mancini and Manuela Piancastelli, the winemakers who rediscovered grape varieties like the Casavacchia and Pallagrello in Campania, and to Primitivo of Manduria producers in Puglia.

Road to Dubai starts during the 5th Italian Cuisine in the World Forum (Bergamo, Milan Expo and Florence / from the 28th June to the 1st of July 2015),an event organized by the virtual network of chefs www.itchefs-gvci.com, which brings together in Italy 150 chefs, restaurant and culinary professionals from more than 50 different countries. Road to Dubai will touch the locations of the Forum. First of all the museum Pentole Agnelli (Bergamo), where some of the most talented chefs of the Lombardy Region will be the protagonists of a shared cooking jam-session, including Chicco e Bobo Cerea (Da Vittorio, Brusaporto)***, Claudio Sadler (Sadler, Milano)**, Matteo Scibilia (Osteria della Buona Condotta – Ornago) e Tano Simonato (Tano passami l’olio, Milano)*. The it will go the Central Market of Florence and to the splendid renaissance villa La Ferdinanda in Artimino, in the outskirt of Florence, where 50 Tuscan food producers will be present their product in a traditional Tuscan dinner.
